BrightonBrighton as a whole is very pro-organic and special diet friendly town. In the North Laines you will find the Infinity foods shop in North Road, selling a vast range of organic and special diet produce. Around the corner in Gardner Street is their organic cafe that uses local produce when available, and also caters for wheat free, sugar free and vegan diets. Also in Gardner Street you will find Kai organic cafe. Again they use local produce and offer a range of wheat free and gluten free foods. The wheat free carrot cake that accompanied my delicious cup of organic cappuccino was wonderful. On your journey around Brighton and if you are partial to chocolate, then you might want to take a peek in Montezumas in Duke Street. Here you will find a shop full of organic chocolate in many shapes and forms. From simple bars to exotic truffles. Made by Montezumas using the finest organic ingredients, I assure you that you will not be disappointed. If you want to stay in Brighton then you might want to consider the Paskins Town House in Charlotte Street, just off the Marine Parade. Having visited Paskins, I can tell you that you are in for a treat when it comes to breakfast. Starting with a choice of fruit and juices and followed by full breakfast which is a delight of organic ingredients. Whether you have the meat version or the vegetarian version you will not be disappointed. I am not a vegetarian but tried the full vegetarian breakfast, as the sausage and fritter were both home made and did not contain any wheat. I can tell you they were both delicious and extremely filling. This was finished by some toast, or in my case rice cakes, with home made marmalade that is to die for. Unfortunately as they use no preserves, you cannot buy the marmalade to take home with you, so savour every bite. The room I stayed in was cosy with a large bed, which was very comfortable. The only downside is that the floorboards above the room were very creaky and did disturb my sleep. If you are visting Brighton for a fun weekend then this should not be a problem for you, unlike me who likes to be tucked up in bed before midnight. Have you visited anywhere recently that you think offers a good choice of organic and special diet options? Then why not write a quick report and send it to andrea@alotoforganics.co.uk? If you have a photograph, send that along too. |
